Ubtech Opens Humanoid Robot Factory With 10,000-Unit Capacity That Uses Robots As Workers

Insider Brief

  • Ubtech Robotics has started operating a humanoid robot factory in Liuzhou, China, designed to produce up to 10,000 units annually while also using robots throughout the manufacturing process.
  • The 14,000-square-meter facility, built with Siemens Digital Industries Software, can produce one industrial humanoid every 10 minutes and will primarily manufacture the Walker S and Cruzr series, according to The Global Times.
  • The site uses Cruzr robots, collaborative systems and autonomous logistics equipment for production and includes a 65-square-meter automated warehouse that can store 112 humanoids while increasing space utilization by more than 50%.

Ubtech Robotics began operating a humanoid robot manufacturing facility in Liuzhou, China, that also puts its robots to work, China’s The Global Times reported.

The 14,000-square-meter plant is designed for annual production capacity of 10,000 units and can produce one industrial humanoid robot every 10 minutes. The plant will primarily make Ubtech’s Walker S and Cruzr series, according to the state-owned media outlet.

Ubtech built the facility with Siemens Digital Industries Software. A manufacturing operations management system developed by the companies coordinates production scheduling, material distribution and quality monitoring, while individual serial numbers allow each robot to be tracked through the manufacturing process.

The factory also uses robots as part of the production process. Cruzr Y1 and Cruzr S2 systems handle tasks including depalletizing, palletizing, loading and material transport, while collaborative robots, assistive manipulators, autonomous logistics vehicles and rotating worktables support final assembly.

The Global Times reported that along with the factory is a 65-square-meter automated warehouse capable of storing 112 humanoid robots with a design that brings a more than 50% increase in use of space.
